Galle Literary Festival
The Galle Literary Festival is the most visible literary festival of Sri Lanka, which hosts famous writers, poets, and literary enthusiasts from around the world. The festival is held in the colonial Galle Fort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and offers a unique combination of literature, culture, and imagination in the backdrop of colonial heritage and the Indian Ocean.
Since 2007 to date, the festival has gained international recognition for its vibrant panel discussions, book readings, poetry readings, and workshops led by renowned authors. Besides literature, there are art exhibits, food, music performances, and interactive workshops, and thus it is a participatory culture festival. Foreign tourists have an opportunity to see book signings, meet writers, and explore a range of subjects from fiction, poetry, through to history, politics, and philosophy.
