Koneswaram Temple, situated on Swami Rock in Trincomalee, is one of Sri Lanka’s most sacred Hindu temples. Called the Temple of a Thousand Pillars, this 2,000-plus-year-old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is one of the Pancha Ishwarams. The temple has fantastic views of Trincomalee Bay and is renowned for its beautiful Dravidian architecture, fine carvings, and the historical link to the Ramayana.
