St. Mary's Church

St. Mary’s Church, located in the centre of Negombo, is the biggest and most important Catholic church in Sri Lanka. Referred to as “Little Rome” because of the dominant Catholic population in the area, construction of the church started in 1874 and was finished in 1922. The building is a mix of European and Sri Lankan architecture and a well-known place of worship.
